Creating a Rolling Gang Sheet in Shopify

Learn how to create a Rolling Gang Sheet product in Shopify using the Build a Gang Sheet app. Ideal for businesses offering continuous DTF (direct-to-film) film rolls based on height rather than standard sizing.

Step-by-Step Setup Instructions

1. Create a New Product

  1. Go to Sales Channels → Online Store → Products.
  2. Click Add product.
  3. Enter a product title such as “Rolling Gang Sheet”.
  4. Disable the Track quantity toggle.
  5. Set Product Type to Gang Sheet.
  6. Add Tags like Gang Sheet.
  7. Click Save.

2. Connect the Product to Build a Gang Sheet

  1. Go to Apps → Build a Gang Sheet.
  2. Click Products and find the newly created product.
  3. Click the Edit (pencil) icon.
  4. Change the Product Type to Rolling Gang Sheet.
  5. Set your desired price per unit.
  6. Adjust your Printer Width to match your printer capabilities.
  7. Set a Start Height — the minimum length needed to start printing.
  8. Set a Minimum Height — the smallest order you will accept.
  9. Set a Maximum Height — limit your roll capacity as needed.
  10. Select your pricing model: Flat or Tiered.
  11. Adjust Size Units if needed (inches, cm, etc.).
  12. Confirm the Product Type remains “Rolling Gang Sheet.”
  13. Click Save.

3. Theme Customization (Optional)

  1. Navigate to Online Store → Customize.
  2. Select Products from the theme preview dropdown.
  3. Click Create template and name it rolling-gang-sheet.
  4. Assign this template to your new product.
  5. Click Save and exit the theme editor.

4. Final Review & Test

  1. Return to your product list in Shopify.
  2. Select your Rolling Gang Sheet product.
  3. Confirm the correct theme template is applied.
  4. Go to Apps → Build a Gang Sheet.
  5. Click Products → View for your new product.
  6. Click Build Your Own Gang Sheet to test the customer experience.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Start Height: This controls when the printer will begin running. Make it realistic based on your machine's behavior.
  • Min Height: This defines your minimum chargeable area.
  • Flat vs Tiered: Use flat pricing for consistency, tiered for flexibility based on sheet height.
