Builder Setting: Adding Halftone

The Halftone feature allows users to simulate a screen-print effect by converting solid color areas into tiny dots—perfect for specific textile applications. This tutorial walks through how to enable Halftone support and optimize image settings within the Standalone Build A Gangsheet App.

1. Open Global Settings

Start by selecting the Settings option from the dashboard navigation.

2. Access Tab-Specific Settings

Within the general settings area, click on the tab-specific Settings to manage builder-level features for a given product or layout tab.

3. Select the Builder Setting Panel

From within the tab configuration, open the Builder Setting section.

4. Enable Transparent Warning

Toggle on the Enable Transparent Warning feature. This setting alerts customers when their design includes transparent elements, which may require special handling for halftones.

5. Enable Halftone Feature

Turn on the Enable Halftone Feature setting to activate halftone options within the builder for applicable images.

6. Save All Changes

Click Save All to apply your updated settings before testing the feature.

7. Test the Feature

Preview and test the settings by uploading an image that includes halftone-friendly design elements (such as gradients or screen-print textures).

8. Upload a Halftone-Ready Design

Import a design that makes use of halftones to see the Transparent Warning and Halftone controls in action.

9. Observe Transparent Warning & Halftone Activation

The system will detect transparent areas and display the warning. At the same time, Halftone tools will become available for editing.

10. Use the Halftone Tool

Select the Halftone option to open advanced configuration tools for dot pattern rendering.

11. Remove Background (Optional)

Within the Halftone tool, you can optionally Remove Background to isolate the core design elements for a cleaner result.

12. Upscale to 300 DPI

Use the built-in upscale tool to enhance your artwork’s resolution to 300 DPI, ensuring a print-ready file.

13. Adjust Halftone Density and Angle

You can fine-tune the density and angle of the halftone dots, and toggle the Halftone effect on or off to preview adjustments.

14. Automatic Design Cropping

The app will automatically crop designs to remove excess whitespace or transparent boundaries, optimizing placement on the gang sheet.

15. Use Additional Color Tools

Access built-in color manipulation tools to adjust hues, brightness, contrast, and saturation directly within the design flow.

16. Apply Your Adjustments

Once you're satisfied with your design modifications, click Apply to finalize the halftone rendering and color settings.

Why Use This Feature?

  • Perfect for screen-print aesthetics and special print finishes.
  • Enables easy background removal and DPI enhancement in one workflow.
  • Gives users granular control over halftone styling for production-ready results.
