How to Add a Custom Button Block in Shopify

Whether you want to add a call-to-action like "Upload Design" or "Start Your Print," Shopify's theme editor allows you to place custom button blocks on your product pages. This guide walks you through the steps to add and position a custom button block using the Build A Gangsheet app or other Shopify-connected apps.

1. Access the Theme Customizer

From your Shopify admin dashboard, go to Sales Channels and click Online Store.

Click the Customize button to open the theme editor for your storefront.

2. Navigate to the Product Page

Use the theme preview navigation to locate the product page where you'd like the button to appear.

This could be a specific product using the Build A Gangsheet app or a general Shopify product.

3. Add a Button Block

In the editor sidebar, hover over the product section and click Add Block.

From the block type menu, scroll down to Apps.

Select the app that provides your button (e.g., "Gang Upload Button" or a custom label block).

4. Position and Save the Button

Drag the new button block to the location you want it to appear—typically below the product title, above the description, or near the add-to-cart button.

Once placed, click Save to apply changes to your live product page.

Why Add a Custom Button?

  • Encourages user action with a clear CTA (e.g., “Upload Your Design”, “Start Building”).
  • Improves user flow by integrating app functionality directly into the product layout.
  • Provides a seamless connection between product content and user interaction.
